Nashville

We've had a great time visiting friends Pat and Roxane Delahoussaye just south of Nashville. Luckily, they escaped any damage from the flood waters. Their beautiful home gives great RV parking! Last night we celebrated Cinco de Mayo with margaritas and Mexican food at Cozymels. Pat and I went for an early morning spin in his C-5 Corvette this morning.

More from Asheville, NC

Biltmore - summer home of Vanderbilts, largest home in America. 250 rooms & you self-tour through 55 of them
...incredible. It took us all day to ride bikes through the many acres of the estate, tour the house and just a tiny part of the gardens.

(me playing with Photoshop...I love the frown on that lion.)

View of the Blue Ridge Mountains from the Biltmore.

The Biltmore's Conservatory

Downtown Asheville.

Asheville's Flat Iron Building

Fascinating town and area!

Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Taking you on a tour through the park...
So GREEN!!

Appalachian Trail

Prounouce that apa-LACH-uhn,
not apa-lay-shun
if you live here...
.

Now we can say we've hiked on the trail of all trails - I would love to do more of it.

See why it's called Smoky?
.
(I also learned that Smokey with an E is only a bear or the police.)

We were there a day after a full night of heavy rain so were blessed with dozens of waterfalls along the road.

The southern end of the main park road is on the Cherokee Reservation in North Carolina.
Interesting looking written Cherokee language...

So many things we like...so little time to blog...

Savannah, Georgia

History -

Mercer House, scene of the murder from Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (good book and movie!)

Me and Johnny Mercer (Moon River...etc, etc, many, many tunes)

Street Art

Savannah's Waving Lady - she waved at ships for years and years...

Street performers - I thought this little guy was just adorable...

Georgians wearing their politics on their sleeve ... or in front of their homes on Tybee Island.

Great restaurants with local flavor...this one had Webcams so I called my friend Shirley to talk while she could see me in front of the live alligators there.

Beautiful beaches - this is Tybee Island, GA

Interesting creatures on the beaches...

A new idea for what to do with blue glass...

Gorgeous view of the Blue Ridge mountains from my cousins' deck...
